Renovations

There are basically three types of renovations, maintenance, equity and lifestyle. Maintenance renovations like replacing your shingles while really changing nothing for you is critical to maintaining the sturctural integrity of your home. Equity renovations include things like painting, new kitchen, new bath, etc. which are quick paybacks for you should you decide to sell. Lifestyle renovations such as whirlpool bathtubs, spas, home theatres while the most enjoyable are not always quick return investments. But, then you don’t expect a return when you go an a vacation. When doing a lifestyle renovation, its a good idea to consider how long you expect to stay in your home.

The Porter Bros. consructed a sun room addition to our home in the fall of 2007 The project also involved extending and changing the porch and the roof of the house. We had an architect prepare plans beforehand, but he design was modified after Roger Porter suggested changes which improved energy efficiency while reducing construction costs. The addition was completed in time for Christmas. The room is a beautiful addition to our home and we are delighted with the improvements made to the original plans. We spend a lot of time enjoying our sun room and we are impressed by the quality and finish of the room which integrates seamlessly to the rest of the home.
